Rogaining:

Rogaining is team sport of long distance cross-country navigation and enjoying. It is closely related to orienteering and many people enjoy both sports. The events can take up to 24 hours on route choosen by the competitors.

All orienteerers, hikers, mountain runners, hill walkers, outdoor adventurers, firms, friends and families are cordially welcome to participate in the oldest Finnish 24h rogaining event.

Rules

The rules of the International Rogaining Federation are followed in the competition.

By registering to the competition, you agree the IRF rules. Competitors will be penalized according to the rules in case of violations.

Is located within 40 km from city of Jyväskylä. Exact location will be announced later.

Competition classes

There are three competition classes in the Retki Rogaining.

Teams

A competition team consists of 2 to 5 members. A team which has a member who is under 18 years of age, shall also have a member who is over 18 years of age. All participants in 24 hour classes under 18 years need to have a written permission from their legal guardian for taking part on the competition unless their legal guardian is in the same team.

Team classes

In the 24-hour competition there are several team classes.

The teams compete in every class for which they are eligible, for example juniors, seniors and veterans compete in open category, too.

In the 8-hour competition there is only one team class, OPEN.

In the MTB 8-hour competition there is only one team class, OPEN.

Age limit

All participants in 24 hour classes must be at least 14 years of age.

The entry fee of a team is the sum of individual fees of the team members.

Cancellation policy

In case of a cancellation, the organisers refund the team as follows:

A team can change its members using the internet service free of charge until 10.5.2015. Any other change, after given date, or change requiring manual labour, costs 5 euro, and must be paid in cash at the event centre before the competition material is handed to team.

Checkpoints

The visits at the checkpoints are recorded by the teams by using an electronic punching system (24 hour classes) or by mobile phones (8 hour classes). The rent of the electronic punching system is included in the fee of 24 hour classes. In 8 hour classes you must have an own mobile phone.

Catering

At the Hashhouse.

All catering at the hash house in the competition centre during the event (sat 14:00 - sun 12:00) is included in the fee. Besides that there will be water posts along the course.

Prizes

Three best teams in every class shall be awarded a prize.

Transportation

Event Centre is in the middle of nowhere ;) Public transport is not available. More information about transportation on Bulletin 1.

Compulsory equipment

Team must carry a mobile phone and first aid kit with emergency/space blanket. Every team member must carry whistle. Helmet is also obligatory for MTB race.

Compulsory equipment must be with the participant during the whole race. Rogainers are not allowed to leave the compulsory equipment in a backpack and then leave the pack for example 100 metres behind while visiting control.

Compulsory equipment checks can be performed at any time, before the race, during the race or right after finishing the race. Missing compulsory equipment is penalized as in the rules. During the race the time spent on checking the equipment is counted as race time and there is no compensation on time lost. Keep the compulsory equipment easily accessible.

For your own safety and for accurate navigation we suggest also plaster, sports tape, water container, some food, spare undershirt, windproof jacket, torch/head light and compass. You can leave other than obligatory equipment on the trail but only after the start of the race and you must have it with you when you finish your race.
