Rogaining:

Rogaining is team sport of long distance cross-country navigation and enjoying. It is closely related to orienteering and many people enjoy both sports. The events can take up to 24 hours on route choosen by the competitors.

All orienteerers, hikers, mountain runners, hill walkers, outdoor adventurers, firms, friends and families are cordially welcome to participate in the first Finnish regaining event.

Competition classes

There are three competition classes in the I Retki Rogaining.

Teams

A team consists of 2 to 5 members.

Team classes

In the 24-hour and 8-hour competitions there are several team classes.

DD    women only
HH    men only
DH    mixed
JJ18  Junior class, 15 to 18 years of age, regardless of sex
DD40  Senior women, at least 40 years of age
HH40  Senior men, at least 40 years of age
DH40  Mixed seniors, at least 40 years of age
VV55  Veterans, at least 55 years of age, regardless of sex 

The teams compete in every class for which they are eligible, for example juniors, seniors and veterans compete in open category, too. The 3-hour event has no rules concerning age or sex of the participants.

Age limit

All participants must be at least 15 years of age, except in the 3-hour event.

Registration

The registration is made over the internet at: www.rogaining.fi. You will receive an invoice by e-mail after your registration in confirmed by the organisers.

Entry fees

The entry fee of a team is the sum of individual fees of the team members.

Checkpoints

There are a total of 48 checkpoints. The visits at the checkpoints are recorded by the teams by using an electronic punching system. The rent of the punching system is included in the fee.

Catering

All catering at the race centre during the event, and one hour after the finish of the event, is included in the fee. Besides that there will be water posts along the course. The pre-event meal is not included, but is made available at a nominal price.

Prizes

Three best teams in every class shall be awarded a prize. In the 3-hour event there will be a draw of prizes.

Ground transportation

We are glad to let you know that there will be a bus transportation from Helsinki harbour and airport and also Tampere airport and railway station to the event centre on the evening of September the 21st.. The fee of the transportation is not included in the race fee, but will be nominal. Further information will be available on this site later in the spring.
