Map

The map is in scale 1:40 000 - contour interval 5 meters - but is a small magnification of the 1:50 000 topographic map. There are no updates since year 1999 which means that all roads, trails or buildings constructed after that do not appear in the map. Specifically some small free time buildings are missing.

The map is printed on two A3 sized papers. Each team member will receive his/her own pair of map and a plastic map cover

Map is missing some paths and roads especially in the military training areas used for military training but also on some other areas.

The stones shown in map are clear in the terrain but on the other hand all stones which seem to be large and clearly visible in the terrain are not marked in the map. As well the marking of open bedrock and steeps is in some cases varying but in general the appearance of the map corresponds well with the scale. Minor objects are not marked at all.

In the area are a number of shelters which are free to be used for hikers. They do not appear in the competition map at all or with a tiny black dot which is in praxis invisible.

In the competition centre is a map indicating the locations of those shelters. Anyhow those shelters are free to be used also by the competitors. The shelters for open use can be recognized of the info board which is not at site in the case of shelter for private use.

”Turpeentuotantoalueet” Peat production areas
In the terrain are several peat production areas, in which are not allowed to be passed. They are marked in the map with text ”Turvetuotantoalue” and yellow dotted area.

Shooting ranges ”Ampumarata”
In the area are several small shooting ranges, which are marked with text Ampumarata. They are fenced and the access is restricted but it is still good to note those.

Airport and runways
The runway area in the Competition Centre and near by are in use and it is not allowed to walk on those in any conditions
